Sunny side of the barn...

So... Here I am on Thursday, sitting in the office, sick as a dog... UGH.

Oh how I DREAD being sick!!
This whole thing started a few days ago with Amanda when she started hacking and coughing. Now almost everyone in the house is sick, With the exception of Aaron...
Even Rachel is feeling a bit of it today, so it won't be long till she is completely down and out also...
NOone is getting any sleep. Those of you with childern know how miserable it can be when the babies are sick. Our smallest ones, Manda and Lauren have been down with whatever this is for a few days so you can imagine our pain... Hopefully in the next few days life will be back to normal but untill then... ugh.

On a lighter side of things, Our Christmas and New years was neat!
We did the family get together at my younger brother Lonnie's house in Berkeley country club... So we all got together and hung out and ate some of his world famous BBQ Turkey that he cooked on a big`ole grill. It was really nice to be able to get together with my brothers and our parents this year. It was great to be able to just SEE them. Between our Spouses, Careers and every day "fluff" it's SOOooo stinking busy that we hardly have the time to talk to each other... That's the part that sucks.
One thing that my Dad (whom is My hero, by the way) always used to tell us growing up is that you need to get along with your siblings because when all heck breaks loose, there will be no one to stand beside you but your brothers and sisters. (fortunately, we don't have any sisters )
And that rang true on new years day while Dad and I was talking about "the sunny side of the barn"...
Dad and I started out our day by changing out a power pole and pulling up tiedowns on an empty lot in the Mobile Home community that my Grandmother owns. Then we started tinkering around the barn and ended up working on the dump truck that we needed running for next weekend. After we got it running, we grabbed a cup of coffee and sat on the trailer on the backside of the barn that is used to store hay for the cows.

It was a perfect day. it was about 50 deg, sunny and very little wind on the back side of the barn... We started to reminisce about the older days.
Dad said that there is nothing better on a day like today, being in the middle of a broom straw field, laid down in the middle of it with the sun to keep you warm... the birds chirping... a gentle breeze blowing every now and then... and JUST about when you go to sleep... A small airplane flies WAYYYyy up in the sky...
I agree...

Man. Thats heaven.
My dad is the coolest.

So I got to thinking about the old days of running off through the woods with my brothers... Camping out... building forts... cutting lumber on the sawmill...
I miss those days.

Heck, I miss my brothers.
